Mom Life // What’s On My Bookshelf?

Motherhood, Travel, Travel / Wednesday, January 10th, 2018

I would like to say as a new mom I don’t have time to read an actual book, but the truth is I’ve been a busy bee for years and can’t remember the last paperback I picked up.  Audio books are the only way I do business these days, and it just so happens it’s a great way to pass the time during long road trips or layovers.  I’ve compiled a list of my favorites, and the ones I’m planning to hit next!  Scroll through to get 2 of these reads for free from Audible!

Recent Reads (or Listens..?)

Girl, Wash Your Face, Rachel Hollis // (Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be)  If you’re a Mom, or a Woman, read this freaking book.  Audible / iTunes

Bringing Up Bebe // One American Mother Discovers the Wisdom of French Parenting.  Such a great read if you’re pregnant or looking to become pregnant soon.  Tyler and I read this when we had just found out I was pregnant with Olivia, and there are still little ideas or points we reflect on.  A great read!  Audible / iTunes

How to Be Here, Rob Bell // Rob Bell is a captivating author for the Christian audience.  This book is perfect for those searching for their path in the new year.  AudibleiTunes

Year of Yes, Shonda Rhimes // Another great New Year’s Resolution book, by the Goddess of Thursday nights (…and someone I’ll never forgive for the death of Derek Shepard…) A fab read if you’re like me, and are constantly striving to get out of your comfort zone! Audible / iTunes

The Magnolia Story, Chip and Joanna Gaines // They’re just adorable.  Their story is sweet, and it’s just an uplifting book (bonus if you’re interested in flipping houses).  Audible / iTunes

The Total Money Makeover, Dave Ramsey // Tyler made me listen to this, and I initially didn’t want to.  I learned a lot, and I have to give props where they’re due, as it completely revolutionized the way we handle money and helped us pay off my student loans by the time we were 25.  I cannot recommend this enough for couples to listen to together!  Audible / iTunes

Podcasts I’ve Loved

RISE Together // Ok, this is my favorite podcast at the moment (and I’m pretty much obsessed with anything that Rachel Hollis does).  Rachel and Dave are a REAL married couple, with REAL life experiences, and even though they’re only about 5 episodes in, I’m hooked.  With our crazy schedules Tyler and I listen independently (he usually takes the time on the way to/from work or in the gym, and I listen while I’m feeding Livy or doing projects around the house).  I can’t say enough good things about this…subscribe!!

Dirty John // Like an audible version of Dateline…loved this one!  Tyler and I have a total addiction to pretty much anything on ID, and this was a podcast we could both get into during our road trips last Fall.

Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe // Former Bachelorette and Wine Lover *Probably not one your husband will enjoy…unless he likes the Bachelor franchise…which mine does not*

Babes and Babies // Another Bachelor franchise inspired podcast, Jade + Carly (Bachelor in Paradise Alums) chat about Momm-ing and all that jazz.  Some of these episodes really grab me, and others feel a bit too giggly, but it’s definitely one worth a listen!  *My favorite episodes have been Ep. 1: Carly’s Countdown to Baby Bass (this one really made me excited about giving birth again!), ‘Mom So Hard’ with Instagram Sensation Maya Vorderstrasse (the letterboard Mama with the cutest Irish twin girls) and of course, Marriage, Babies, and Business, with Kaitlyn Bristowe.
