I was provided a free product in exchange for this honest review. All opinions expressed are mine, and 100% authentic as always!
Ask my husband or my Mom, and they’ll tell you I am literally the worst at keeping a secret. Birthday and Christmas presents? I’ll convince you to open the good ones at least a week in advance. Within 2 minutes of taking each positive pregnancy test for both of our babes, I called Tyler (crying…both times #allthehormones) and each time regretted that I hadn’t done a pregnancy reveal like the ones you see all over Pinterest.
This time around, I didn’t want to wait until our 20-week anatomy scan to find out the gender of our newest family member (because I was SURE it was a boy!) so I started researching early gender testing. Based on a combination of positive user reviews (greater than 99% accuracy!) and sound scientific technology, I chose to partner with SneakPeek.
Although I took the test around week 14, SneakPeek actually has the ability to detect the presence or absence of male Y chromosomes starting as early as 9 weeks pregnant!
Since I was already chomping at the bit to know our baby’s gender for sure (and we were working on a timeline since I wanted to surprise Tyler on Father’s Day!) I chose the SneakPeek Fast Track. I received the test and was super impressed right off the bat with the amount of detail in the instructions and how each step was totally Alex proof (sometimes I need to be walked through it like I’m 5, ya know?!). Once I got situated and started the process, it took maybe 20 minutes until I was sealing up the kit and sending it back to the lab. I had never taken my own blood before (finger test or any other way) and have a very low tolerance for pain, but I felt like the process was super easy (and worth the pain to my finger tips!). I overnighted the kit back to the lab, and got my follow up email (with results!) within 48 hours. I was shocked (not only that our little babe was NOT a boy!) but also at how quickly the information came back.
Reader’s Digest Version:
- 99% Accuracy after 9Weeks-Pregnancy
- Sample is self-collected (you cannot have your hubby help out, as a male cannot be present while testing as to not contaminate the sample) and you will have to prick your finger with a needle to collect a small amount of blood. Your finger(s) will probably hurt for about 24 hours-ish.
- Two Speed-Options: Original or Fast Track
- SneakPeek DOES ship to APO! This was a HUGE factor in partnering with them. Because of the APO shipping times (4-10 days) I would go with the original option, as either one will likely take the same amount of time.
All in all, I would absolutely use SneakPeek Gender Testing again. The process was easy, the testing is affordable (especially compared to 4-D ultrasounds) and the technology is amazing. Perfect peace of mind for impatient Mamas like me 🙂
Did you find out if you were expecting a little boy or baby girl? Let me know in the comments!
I swore I was just going to wait until our 20-week anatomy scan, but then went to one of those ultrasound places at 16 weeks! It was expensive though, so it is great to hear there is a cheaper option that is weeks earlier. The blood test for myself would make me nervous, but it’s good to hear it’s doable. And congrats on a girl!
It’s so hard to wait to find out! I’ve got about 7 more weeks or so until I find out if my daughter will have a little brother or a little sister…we’re hoping for a sister. I kind of don’t want to find out earlier in case it’s not what I’m hoping for, even though I’ll love our new addition either way!
